Invoicing software that gets you paid
Send tax invoices with the right VAT and sequential numbering, then track who owes you and chase them without the awkward email. Priced in rands, built around SARS rules.
No card required. From R149/month after your trial.
Where invoicing usually goes wrong
An invoice is a legal document before it is a request for money. These are the three problems we see most often.
Invoices that are not valid tax invoices
A tax invoice has to carry specific details before a VAT-registered customer can claim the input VAT. LEDGA builds those fields into the template, so the document you send is the document SARS expects.
Numbering that skips or repeats
Numbering is sequential and issued by the system. You cannot accidentally send two invoices with the same number, which is the first thing that unravels under review.
Not knowing who owes you
Every invoice has a live status. Debtor ageing shows what is current, 30, 60, and 90 days overdue, so you chase from a list instead of memory.
What you get
Invoicing, VAT calculation, PDF export, and reminders are on every paid plan. Multi-currency and recurring invoices are on Professional.
Tax invoices with VAT handled
Enter your line items and LEDGA calculates the VAT and totals. If you are registered, your VAT number and the required tax invoice wording are carried onto the document automatically.
Email straight from the invoice
Send the invoice to your customer without exporting it first. The sent copy is stored against the invoice record so you always know what went out and when.
PDF copies on demand
Every invoice generates a clean PDF you can download, attach, or hand to your accountant at year end.
Payment reminders
Send a reminder against an overdue invoice instead of drafting an awkward email from scratch. The reminder references the original invoice and outstanding amount.
Feeds your VAT return
Invoices you issue become the output VAT side of your VAT201. Nothing is retyped, so the return reflects what you actually billed.
Customer records that persist
Save customer details once and reuse them. Their full invoice history and outstanding balance sit on one screen.
Invoice to payment, end to end
Three steps, and the last one is what most systems leave you to do by hand.
Raise the invoice
Pick the customer, add line items, and let LEDGA work out VAT and the total. The number is assigned for you.
Send and record it
Email it directly or download the PDF. Either way the invoice is recorded as issued and starts ageing.
Reconcile the payment
When the money arrives, import your bank CSV and confirm the match. The invoice is marked paid and drops off your debtors list.
Common questions
What has to appear on a South African tax invoice?
A valid tax invoice generally needs the words "tax invoice", your business name, address and VAT number, the customer details, a serial number, the date of issue, a description of what was supplied, and the amount with VAT shown. LEDGA includes these fields in the invoice template so you are not assembling them by hand. This is general information, not tax advice.
How many invoices can I send each month?
The Solo plan at R149 per month covers 5 invoices a month, Growth at R299 covers 20, and Professional at R699 is unlimited. If you invoice in volume, Professional is the plan to look at.
Can I invoice international clients in another currency?
Multi-currency invoicing is available on the Professional plan at R699 per month. The Solo and Growth plans invoice in rands only, so if you bill overseas clients in dollars, euros, or pounds you will want Professional.
Do you support recurring invoices for retainer clients?
Recurring invoices are on the Professional plan. On Solo and Growth you raise each invoice as you need it, which is usually fine for project work but less convenient for monthly retainers.
Can I send an invoice if I am not VAT registered?
Yes. If you are not registered you issue an invoice without VAT, and LEDGA will not add a VAT line or claim the document is a tax invoice. Registration is only compulsory once your taxable turnover passes the SARS threshold.
Do I need a card to try it?
No. Every account starts with a 15-day free trial and no card details are required to begin.
